Elina Avanesyan’s meeting with the Minister of the RA MoESCS
The Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, met with tennis player Elina Avanesyan on September 17.
Avanesyan, who is ranked 47th in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, has already competed in several international tournaments under the Armenian flag.
The Deputy Minister Karen Giloyan, Executive Director of the Armenian Tennis Federation Gevorg Karamanukyan, and Executive Director of the Keron Development Foundation, Vanane Ararktsyan were also present at the meeting.
Zhanna Andreasyan welcomed Avanesyan’s decision to compete under the Armenian flag and congratulated the athlete on her 22nd birthday.
“It is a great honor and pride for us to see you representing Armenia. I am confident that your example will inspire and motivate our children to take up tennis and become more actively involved in sports. I believe you will achieve even greater success, which will contribute to the popularization and development of tennis in our country. We follow your performances with excitement and enthusiasm, and I am sure that all our positive energy will push you toward new victories,” stated Andreasyan.
Elina Avanesyan expressed her gratitude for the reception, admitting she felt very proud to represent Armenia. She hoped to contribute to the development and popularization of tennis in the country. The tennis player also shared that, just the day before, she had met with over 100 children in Yerevan, where she conducted a master class, gave them advice, signed autographs, and took photos with them.
“My impressions are indescribable. It was an amazing experience. I receive a lot of support here, which is very encouraging for me,” said the 22-year-old athlete.
Minister Andreasyan noted that Armenia’s 2024-2030 strategy for the development of physical culture and sports places a strong emphasis on tennis, and collaboration with professional athletes and the use of their potential is crucial.
Vanane Ararktsyan, Executive Director of the Keron Development Foundation, mentioned that the foundation has already implemented several successful projects in cooperation with the Mo ESCS during its five months of operation. She added that it is a great honor for the foundation to support athletes, cultural figures, and projects that contribute to Armenia’s development and reputation.
During the meeting, they also discussed Avanesyan’s upcoming tournaments and the necessary steps to further develop tennis in Armenia.
