Guided Tours: A New Format for Presenting the “Mother Goddess: From Anahit to Mary” Exhibition at the History Museum of Armenia
The exclusive international exhibition “Mother Goddess: From Anahit to Mary”, on display at the History Museum of Armenia since September 21, 2024, has come to its conclusion. Implemented with the support of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports and the Keron Development Foundation, in collaboration with the Culture Development Foundation, the History Museum of Armenia, and the British Museum, this exhibition became one of the most iconic cultural events in the history of independent Armenia, welcoming over 55,000 visitors.
Initially planned for six months, the exhibition sparked such great interest that it was extended by an additional twenty days, until April 10, 2025. For the first time in Armenia, the exhibition showcased the famous bronze head and hand of the Goddess Anahit, preserved at the renowned British Museum. More than 60 valuable exhibits from the rich collection of the History Museum of Armenia were presented, reflecting the idea of the Mother Goddess — from paganism to Christianity.
Throughout the exhibition, the Keron Development Foundation initiated a series of events to keep the exhibit dynamic and engaging, attracting an even broader audience. One of these initiatives was the guided tours — special exhibition tours led by famous Armenian public figures, designed to engage a wide and diverse audience by leveraging their popularity and influence.
From November 2024 to April 2025, a total of 6 guided tours were conducted by Mark Grigoryan, Khoren Levonyan, Hrachuhi Utmazyan, Avet Barseghyan, Ani Khachikyan, and Arevik Gevorgyan, involving 90 participants. The project attracted 1,292 applications in total, highlighting its significant public demand.
