June 2025

Children and Youth Olympic Wrestling School after Norayr Musheghyan  was founded in the 1960s by legendary wrestler Norayr Musheghyan and today stands as one of the oldest and most prestigious wrestling schools in Armenia.

Over the decades, numerous medalists of European and World Championships have begun their journeys here. In recent years, the school has recorded impressive achievements, nurturing title-winning athletes such as Vigen Nazaryan, Suren Aghajanyan, and Karen Aslanyan.

In 2022, thanks to the initiative of the founders of the Keron Development Foundation, the school underwent a major renovation, bringing it up to international standards. Modern heating and cooling systems, high-quality air conditioners, state-of-the-art training equipment, and professional wrestling mats were installed. The locker rooms and showers were fully renovated, and a steam bath was newly constructed.

Today, the school has not only a new appearance but also new ambitions. Sports are one of the five strategic directions of the Keron Development Foundation, and through this initiative, the Foundation is committed not only to modernizing infrastructure but also to supporting and encouraging young wrestlers on their path to victories and accomplishments.

Since Armenia’s independence, wrestling has become the country’s most successful Olympic sport: of Armenia’s 18 Olympic medals, 9 have been earned in wrestling. With deep historical roots and continuous success on the international stage, wrestling remains a symbol of Armenian sporting pride and international success.

The school remains one of the cornerstone institutions for Armenian wrestling. In recent years, more than half of the national team members have emerged from this very school. The evidence speaks for itself: the school has not only a proud legacy but also a promising future.
