Keron Foundation and Norayr Musheghyan Wrestling School Launch Cooperation
On June 5, the Keron Development Foundation and the Norayr Musheghyan Olympic Youth Wrestling School signed a memorandum of cooperation. Since Armenia’s independence, wrestling has become the country’s most successful Olympic sport. Of Armenia’s 18 Olympic medals, 9 have been earned in wrestling. It is a discipline with deep historical roots and a continuous record of international success.
Founded in the 1960s by legendary wrestler Norayr Musheghyan, this wrestling school is one of the oldest and most prominent institutions of its kind in Armenia. Numerous medalists of European and World Championships began their journey here. In recent years, the school has produced many title-winning athletes, including Vigen Nazaryan, Suren Aghajanyan, and Karen Aslanyan. In 2022, at the initiative of the Keron Development Foundation’s founders, the school underwent a complete renovation to meet international standards. Modern heating and cooling systems, high-quality air conditioners, state-of-the-art training equipment, and professional wrestling mats were installed. Locker rooms and restrooms were refurbished, and a sauna was constructed.
Today, the school boasts not only a renewed appearance but also a revitalized mission. For the Keron Development Foundation, sports is one of its five strategic directions. A key new initiative in this area is to support the school and motivate its students and young wrestlers to pursue excellence and celebrate their victories. The school remains one of the cornerstone institutions for Armenian wrestling. In recent years, more than half of the national team members have emerged from this very school. The evidence speaks for itself: the school has not only a proud legacy but also a promising future.
