Renovation of YSМU Library
The renovation of Yerevan State Medical University’s library aims to transform it into a modern, inspiring environment for learning and research. The project includes the development of open and closed halls, the integration of cutting-edge technology, and the creation of comfortable lounge areas, all designed to enhance the academic experience for students.
YSMU, renowned for its high-quality education, serves over 8,000 students, including a diverse international cohort from 26 countries. Recognizing the university’s extensive collection of research and academic materials, this project aims to modernize the library to better support students in accessing valuable information and fostering a motivated study environment.
Following the architectural competition announced in August, the Dutch architectural firm Defesche van den Putte (DVDP) has been selected as the winner. Renowned for its innovative and diverse projects across urban development, education, and cultural sectors, DVDP is set to make a significant impact with its fresh approach and creative solutions. DVDP’s portfolio includes the renovation of the libraries at Rotterdam Erasmus University, Maastricht University, and The Hague Royal Library. During the official meeting, held in September, the cooperation agreement was signed between DVDP representatives, the Keron foundation and Yerevan State Medical University, followed by a tour of the future library space. The participants discussed the detailed plans for the renovation and outlined the next phases of the collaboration.
