Three Public Playgrounds in Yerevan

Project Category:
Development and Support Initiatives

Partners:
Kentron Administrative District

Duration:
September 2025 – March 2026

Objective

To create modern, inclusive playgrounds that meet international standards and serve exclusively public purposes – spaces that foster children’s creative and social development, ensure a safe and inspiring play experience, and serve as prototypes for future initiatives aimed at territorial development

The Keron Development Foundation has initiated a project to create three next-generation public playgrounds in Yerevan’s Kentron District. This initiative is part of the Foundation’s strategic focus on territorial development and is implemented in close partnership with the Administrative District of Kentron.

The foundation aims to address the long-standing lack of public playgrounds in the capital that meet international standards and cater to different age groups. With growing demand for modern, safe, and educational play environments, the Keron Development Foundation is responding with thoughtfully designed solutions.

As part of the project, next-generation playgrounds meeting international standards will be established in Yerevan, designed entirely as public spaces without any commercial component.

Each playground included in the project will feature a unique theme, turning play into a true adventure for children.

The playgrounds were developed with the participation of highly experienced local and international experts. They feature play structures that meet international standards and are already in use in advanced European cities, such as swings and slides from world-leading manufacturers, as well as equipment custom-designed specifically for Yerevan.

During the design process, the opinions of parents and local residents were taken into account through focus groups and discussions, with many of the insights incorporated into the final project.

The playgrounds have been developed with a strong focus on children’s safety and high environmental standards. Soft gravel and rubber surfaces will be used in the main areas, main part of the play structures will be  made of natural wood and recycled materials. A priority was also placed on preserving existing greenery and creating new landscaped zones.

These playgrounds are not only a place for children to play but also a thoughtfully designed environment that fosters imagination, motor skills, and social interaction.
